Whats done is done and this new scar on your rep and character can and will last for a while but not forever if your looking to clear your conscious just take the item back to the store u purchased it from and say that u found it laying in the food-court or parking-lot and someone must have lost it in the holiday rush and if that's not enough if u still need a little more justification then depending on your age tell your parents and let them pick a punishment for u or volunteer in an activity for the amount of hours that it would take u to make the money to pay for the shirt and if your ot into that take the cost of the shirt to the store and leave it on the counter trust me they will accept it
Hell just tell the store owner or manager that u stole a shirt and u would like to pay for it or return it

I really respect you for admitting it. It shows your conscience bothers you. Everyone does something stupid they regret. People aren't perfect. Just go back to the store with it in your hands and casually put it down while you are browsing and walk out of the store feeling better and knowing you'll never do it again. I wouldn't beat yourself up if it's a one-time thing, but if you do it a lot, then it is an addiction that is hiding some problem you are dealing with. In that case, you can get help through counselling.

Give it away then. And yeah, you really should feel bad. Because if you got caught, the Law just moved shoplifting up from a misdemeanor to a felony. So you'd be doing some overnight sleeping in a jailhouse. And, it would go on your record. That means when you apply for a job, they will know that you once shoplifted. Totally not worth it.

If you can not face the people at the store, take the item you stole and put it into an envelope with a typed note that says, "I'm sorry." and mail it to them anonymously.
You will feel much better about it and your karma will be cleaned up by balancing the stupid act with a healing one.
Why did you do it? Because for one moment you felt a surge of power and bravado and you enjoyed pulling one over on the "stupid store clerks". And what did you really get from it? A big lesson that stealing is wrong.
Good for you. You are a fast learner. Now...don't forget what you learned.

Maybe you could have a friend return it for you, or you could, as another person suggested, leave it in a dressing room. Alternately, if you have cash, you could simply give it to the store manager and keep the clothes (since by paying the store manager the exact amount of money the clothes are worth, you have pretty much purchased them).

I actually find theft to be one of the greatest wrongs someone can do. It is so morally wrong because you are not just stealing any ol' camisole. You are taking something important and valuable from somebody else-thereby detracting from their value!
Of course you should take it back. It's called spine. Besides, I don't think camis fit on girls with no backbone--though I could be wrong.

Just don't do it again. Chalk it up to experience. You should give what it was you took to a homeless person. The gesture STILL would not make shoplifting right, but at least SOMETHING good will come out of your bad deed.

Take it back to the store and apologize, or apologize and pay for it. You'll feel so much better, I promise.
And tell your parents that you did this. This could be a sign that you need other kinds of help.

The responsible thing would be to return it to the store. They may be lenient with you because you fessed up. Being responsible and accountable for you actions is a sign of maturity.

How the hell did you manage to steal something from Hollister? Especially during the holiday season.. Wow.
Every time I go to the mall, employees/security guards watch me like a hawk.
