I can't get into my doctor until late January. My last period was early November. Since then my breasts have doubled in size, I'm tired all time, I'm clutzy, I can't think straight, I pee a lot, and then a couple days ago I got a positive HPT. Can I rely on it for an answer? I don't know what else would make my breasts grow.

I've only taken one test. It was clear blue but not the digital one. I was supposed to start my period Dec. 12th.

Sweetie what else do you need? A huge flashing sign? lol. Unless you have some rare breast growing disorder, you are pregnant!!! You have what's called mommy brain. It gets worse...I forget everything and then sometimes I just forget what I'm talking about. When you go to the Dr., do NOT be surprised when he/she says Congrats!!! <3

Hi Honey, here are some symptoms of pregnancy, check them and then see your doctor

Tender, swollen breasts
One of the early signs of pregnancy is sensitive, sore breasts caused by increasing levels of hormones. The soreness may feel like an exaggerated version of how your breasts feel before your period. Your discomfort should diminish significantly after the first trimester, as your body adjusts to the hormonal changes.

Fatigue
Feeling tired all of a sudden? No, make that exhausted. No one knows for sure what causes early pregnancy fatigue, but it's possible that rapidly increasing levels of the hormone progesterone are contributing to your sleepiness.

You should start to feel more energetic once you hit your second trimester, although fatigue usually returns late in pregnancy when you're carrying around a lot more weight and some of the common discomforts of pregnancy make it more difficult to get a good night's sleep

Nausea or vomiting
If you're like most women, morning sickness won't hit until about a month after conception. (A lucky few escape it altogether.) But some women do start to feel queasy a bit earlier. And not just in the morning, either — pregnancy-related nausea and vomiting can be a problem morning, noon, or night.

About half of women with nausea feel complete relief by the beginning of the second trimester. For most others it takes another month or so for the queasiness to ease up.

Increased sensitivity to odors
If you're newly pregnant, it's not uncommon to feel repelled by the smell of a bologna sandwich or cup of coffee and for certain aromas to trigger your gag reflex. Though no one knows for sure, this may be a side effect of rapidly increasing amounts of estrogen in your system. You may also find that certain foods you used to enjoy are suddenly completely repulsive to you.

Abdominal bloating
Hormonal changes in early pregnancy may leave you feeling bloated, similar to the feeling some women have just before their period arrives. That's why your clothes may feel snugger than usual at the waistline, even early on when your uterus is still quite small.

Frequent urination
Shortly after you become pregnant, you may find yourself hurrying to the bathroom all the time. Why? Mostly because during pregnancy the amount of blood and other fluids in your body increases, which leads to extra fluid being processed by your kidneys and ending up in your bladder.

This symptom may start as early as six weeks into your first trimester and continue or worsen as your pregnancy progresses and your growing baby exerts more pressure on your bladder.

A missed period
If you're usually pretty regular and your period doesn't arrive on time, you'll probably take a pregnancy test long before you notice any of the above symptoms. But if you're not regular or you're not keeping track of your cycle, nausea and breast tenderness and extra trips to the bathroom may signal pregnancy before you realize you didn't get your period.

Your basal body temperature stays high
If you've been charting your basal body temperature and you see that your temperature has stayed elevated for 18 days in a row, you're probably pregnant

Good luck.

If the test if registering the pregnancy hormone in your urine (hCG), then yes, you are pregnant. Congratulations.

Some additional information:

We found a number of resources that discuss the accuracy of home pregnancy testing. Lab Tests Online has a section on their website that discusses the hCG test [1] which answers the question ‘How does the test that I do at home myself compare with the results of a test done in a lab?’, stating:

“Home pregnancy testing is very similar to qualitative urine hCG testing in the laboratory, but there are factors surrounding its use that are important to note.

- First, home tests come with very specific directions that must be followed explicitly. If you are using a home test, follow the directions extremely carefully.
- Second, home tests are sometimes done too soon after the missed menstrual cycle to result in a positive test - it takes 10 days after conception before the presence of hCG can be detected by the urine test. That is why a home test is sometimes negative when the test done by your doctor is positive the doctor's test is often done several days later when hCG levels have become detectable.
- All urine qualitative hCG tests should, if possible, be done on a first morning urine sample. Urine becomes much more dilute after ingestion of liquids (tea, coffee, juice, water, etc.) and urine hCG concentrations may become too low to register as positive.

Generally, when used correctly, the home test should produce the same result as the urine hCG test done by your doctor. Qualititative blood testing for hCG is more sensitive than urine hCG testing, so sometimes a blood test will indicate pregnancy when the urine test is negative. Quantitative hCG testing requires a blood sample and must be done in the laboratory.”

Bandolier have also reviewed the accuracy of home pregnancy tests [2] their comment (see full text for more information) is:

“Home pregnancy testing kits usually claim accuracy of over 95% (whatever that may mean). The reality is that the literature contains information on only four kits evaluated as they are intended to be used - by women testing their own urine. The results we have suggest that for every four women who use such a test and are pregnant, one will get a negative test result. It also suggests that for every four women who are not pregnant, one will have a positive test result.

Many important decisions will hinge on the results of a home pregnancy test - whether to see a doctor, decisions about termination, decisions about relationships. In the circumstances, the paucity and quality of published information could be regarded as a scandal. While results in the hands of experienced technicians may be adequate, it is clear that in the situation in which they are intended to be used, the tests do not work well enough. Women should know this.”

Yes you can pretty well rely on your HPT, it isn't too common to get a false positive plus it explains other symptoms. If you are really worried or want to know go to a walk in clinic and get a blood pregnancy test, they don't lie. Good luck and Congratulations

Home pregnancy tests often give false negatives, but false positives are almost unheard of. It sounds like you're pregnant! If that's the answer you wanted, congratulations!

Good luck!

You're most definitely pregnant. Your doctor will just make you take a blood test if their pee tests don't show that you are pregnant. But you are having all the symptoms of a pregnancy so CONGRATULATIONS!!!

HPT is 99% accuracy. and it sounds that you are pregnant, if you want to make sure the HPT was correct , it won't hurt to try it again, take the test right when you get up. before you drink anything. thats is the best time to do it. thats when its stronger.

Normally it only takes one positive pregnancy test. There are a lot more false negatives than false positives. You are pregnant.... congrats!!!
