I'm refinishing a Strat, it's a fat Strat with a humbucker at the bridge and two singles. While I have it apart to paint it I wanted to do something different with the pickups, I thought about a lipstick tube at the neck or maybe another humbucker, there is room for it. I'm just looking for a different sound. What would be best?

That's a loaded question. Depends upon your musical experience, your ear, your pocketbook, etc.

My Strat has been reworked with a DiMarzo Humbucker in the forward position for a much fuller, richer sound, and two different Fender Lace Sensors in the middle and bridge position. This gives me everything from a basic Gibson fat sound, to a mellow humbucker/single coil out of phase, to a bright single coil, to a clunky/funcky Robert Cray out-of-phase, to a very bright Tele sound. What more could I want?
