take them off....! and beat up whoever does not do it, had someone in a headlock just the other day!

We live in Japan and they don't wear shoes in the house or in some public places. We've been here for 8 years but lived most of that in base housing. However, we liked the idea of not wearing shoes in the house because really, it is kind of gross. Recently we moved off base to a new house and our Japanese landlord made us sign a paper that stated we would not wear shoes in the house. The house is built with a special entry way designed for taking off shoes and storing them.

I wear mine. My house has 60 year old hardwood floors. I figure in this time, they have been stepped no many times, so my shoes are not going to hurt them.
They are pretty floors too.
On the other hand, that is only if I am coming home form somewhere. once they are off, I never put them back on. If i don't go anywhere, then I don't wear any, except for slippers occasionally.

As soon as we step into the house, we take our shoes off and put our house shoes on.

I hate wearing shoes in the house. Its funny b/c my sister always wears her shoes in her house and everyone else's house, only taking them off right before she goes to bed. strange.

i wear them. but when we first moved into the house we were not allowed to wear our shoes inside. i do take them off as soon as i get to my room. i don't walk around the house in them

Well I have off white berber carpet in my house so just all of us who live there take our shoes off in the tiled area and put on slippers. Any other visitor is left alone, and we deal with the consequences ( like dirt stains) later after they leave!

In Canada we take our shoes off when we get in. I've never met anyone who wears their shoes into th e house.
