If a person is precarious, do they have trouble with being loyal or commiting to something (such as marriage)?..My girlfriend is very precarious, and I've heard that if someone is like that, they usually follow along in what the other is doing, and go along with it. I'm not really sure on the meaning of it, and I'm not sure if something like that would also have an impact on a relationship with being loyal or etc. Please help?

Could someone also tell me what characteristics a precarious person might have?..and how they would act around people, or in situations?..

Insecure, poor risk-takers, uncertain, poor gamblers, superstitious, mis-informed, excuse makers. In other words, unreliable and potentially dangerous depending on the importance of their decision.

Don't marry him.

I agree with the above answerer. The word "precarious" does not apply to a person; it's describing a delicate situation - like the precarious truce in the mideast - or an object placed on an unsafe shelf. The word is probably "precocious" which means advanced for her years. A 4-year old playing the violin is precocious. A 6-year old with the vocabulary of an adult is precocious. It has nothing to do with loyalty or committment. If you heard this word from another person, ask them what word they used and their definition of it. PS - the only way to determine loyalty and committment is by longevity. The longer you 2 spend time together, the more you will know about each other. Good Luck to you...

Precarious; dangerous, lacking in security and stability. That is the definition. I do not think a person that is precarious, is " following around and going along with it ". I would say precarious persons would have trouble being loyal, on average.

I wonder if you are using the correct word? Precarious is what a bowl on the edge of a shelf is, or a person is precarious if they are standing on a high fence, and not holding on to something.

Do you mean "precocious?"

I think it is when people choose to not deal with something then and decide that the unknown, or future, will get them where they want/need to be with little effort. Where in reality, it is up to the individual to make things happen. I think these people need encouragement.
