It's ok to have confidence, but there's a point when people brag about how much they can do all the time, try to upstage others and look down their noses at them.

I think the line is drawn when the person becomes condescending to others. That's cocky!

Confident is more of an ora that surrpunds you, cocky is when your all "I'm all that and a bag of chips and u look bad cause i'm the best" ect...

Confident: they say they're a doctor after u ask them what they do.
Cocky: they walk up to you and say "I'm a doctor, want me to inspect you?" or something of that nature expecting you to be impressed and fall to your knees.
