I would suggest using illustrations from your own life... for instance, when you were small, you might have approached a friendly-looking dog...only to find out that he bites!! This experience formed a lesson that not all things appear as they seem. Another experience might be that of a hot stove... mommy probably told you NOT to touch it... and you did and got burned. This experience causes you to view authority figures as "experts" and may cause you to view the experts as "all-knowing" and "never wrong." You can also use the experience of a bad relationship as a lesson in approaching the next one with caution.
You can see that ALL of our past experiences cause us to view our lives and the people and things around us with our own personal opinion.
Example: My parents exposed me to horses from practically the day I was born. As I grew up, I was not afraid of horses, learned horsemanship, and became and accomplished rider. My early experience of being around horses caused me to view life as something not to be afraid of, but rather to embrace and enjoy.
I hope this helps. Your essay should be personal.. the teacher is asking about YOUR past experiences and how they have shaped how you view YOUR life...
If you must be more "generic" in your approach, you can show how the experience of abuse can affect how someone views life with distrust, pain, and eventually their own abusive nature against others. Another generic example is that of a disadvantage child with a parent who encourages them to do their best and tells them they can be anything they want to be...they use that past experience of positive reinforcement to view life as a challenge to be overcome and achieved....
Good luck!

reaction is a learned response. that is natural reaction.
we need only burn our self's on the stove once to know that that hurt and so the future of our behavior around stoves and heat is altered by the past.
a person does something that is good and the community rewards him with a medal or something he feels good likes that and attempts to regain that feeling by doing the same or similar things.
a study was done that proved that the human response to the sounds monkeys make when danger is near causes the same internal response in people . that is the genetic past and inherited fear.
we fall in love we like that if then the other person dumps us or miss uses our trust we respond by being more guarded with our trust and the freeing of our love.
we are robbed by a tall man with a black hat at night. we know that all men who walk around at night are not robbers nor are all men who have hats on nor are all tall men but still we come to fear and put up our defenses when we see someone similar or are out at night . we know this is not a rational fear based on the population and the odds but this remains with us.
a soldier is in battle sees terrible things his friends die he sees the enemy suffer and die. he remembers in detail that is often astounding the sounds and smells as well as the visions of what he saw. it is known that the smell of things is the strongest trigger to memory . this is one area that is worked on when helping a military person who has post tramaitic stress.
the person often can deal with movies showing war.
the person can read books about war.
but more often then we would expect the person has troubles dealing with tastes and sounds and smells more then all the rest of it this is a demonstration of the method our brain uses or our mind uses to store impotant things such as danger that being for the most part the most important.
the past is really just a training ground for the future . a quote from s.love.

Someone once said that we are the sum total of our ancestors. We are also the sum of our experiences in life, and this affects our outlooks, and opinions. The things which you want to do, as well as the things that you don't want to do, are based on your hopes and fears gleaned from your experiences, in life. Expand upon this theme, and I hope you get an A+.

all of us have advantageous and detrimental reports, some people have greater of one or the different. i understand of people (in my opinion) who've had many undesirable (demeaning, abuseful, violent) occurrences of their lives. They (or I) grew to become out to be greater knowledgeble yet greater pessimistic than the conventional person. and that i understand of people who've grown up in very effective families or circumstances who're greater adjusted and happy. of path there are continuously exceptions to the rule of thumb. yet one ingredient I reported is that folk who grew up in happy good environments with the two mothers and fathers, while paired with someone from the comparable adventure, will stay married and be happy. people who got here from an volatile and unsightly historic past would be people who get divorced by using fact they in no way discovered a thank you to make it a objective to have a protracted-lasting, take care of marriage and relatives. Too undesirable.

In an nutshell, it's called "Lessons Learned" We must learn from our actions and strive to either stay on the same plane or work to create new attitudes towards our mistakes. Thus we can only better ourselves individuallly or within our peer groups.

We judge ourselves by our past actions and experiences. Others also judge us by our past actions and experiences. Things in the past have led us to our future. Have you ever wished that you could go back and do something all over again?
Something that you possibly regretted doing or even something that you would like to do again? Your past successes and failures have brought you to today. They have shaped/molded you.
