I'm slighly overweight and all these people I work with and my mom knows try to give me all their fat clothes. I'm not even close to their old size, I'm a lot smaller. I don't want their rejected items, does it make them feel better to give you their old stuff?

I think they might not realize that they are being rude because most people who have been overweight are very considerate to people's feelings. They may just be excited about their loss of weight and want to get rid of their old clothes asap. You shouldn't let them make you feel bad because they didn't lose the weight through very hard work they had to have surgery and this shows their lack of motivation.

For some reason, people who staple thier stomachs tend to become very pretentious. I'm just like you, I consider myself overweight but not a butterball that needs to staple thier mouth and lack of discipline.

I have an idea, tell them that thier clothes make you look fat. Better yet, take all the clothes, donate it to the Salvation Army and get tax receipts for tax deductions. Then tell them what you did since items are measured by the bag full. And add that it was not difficult to add up the bags.

It is a way for them to burn that bridge behind them - sort of proving to themselves that they are never going back to that weight. You just happen to be the person caught in the middle. Why not accept them (so they will be happy) , then donate all of those clothes untouched to Goodwill or a similar charity, and tell the people you tried the outfits and appreciate their thoughts but they didn't fit you well enough?

probably not to waste the clothes they had...and yes..likely to make themselves feel better that they can fit into the clothes anymore. Their lack of judgement of how they compared to you is normal. many people do not see themselves as the size they really are, or were. If you do not want them, simply say..No thank you..I have so many clothes now, the last thing I need is more to fill my closet with. (that is a nice way to say, keep your ugly, out of date clothes..that will hang on me anyways...to yourself..lol)..suggest they give it to sally Ann or something.
