interesting question. its easy to ignore the marginalized. this doesnt always happen actively, sometimes just the hassle of everyday life leads to a passive ignorance of this reality. i would hope that one day the people who are elected/paid to deal with the problems most of us cant comprehend will finaly get up and do something. the trouble is i dont see such a politician anywhere.

Are you homeless? Have you ever been homeless? Probably not. I sure hope not.

Circumstances for people can lead them to be homeless. I was homeless for three months in 1997 and I will never forget it. NEVER. My son was 11 and my grandmother sold her house and we had no where to live. She died soon after that. We got no help from the system and in fact my son wound up with food poison and 103 fever from the food at the shelter.

I reached out and someone I know helped me with a job and an apartment, but there I was beholden to him for 5 years and he got rich off my sweat belive it.

I own my house now free and clear. A bank would not lend money for this house. It has no walls in places, no kitchen, windows drafty, but it's mine and I will never again be homeless.

Unless of course, my foundation doesn't hold, which my husband estimates will last three years. So I have to come up with a way to get that fixed within three years, or I can end up there again and It's not pretty.

Circumstances beyond our control, we all have them-be it good or bad.

It depends if I see them in an AA meeting or if they are panhandling.

By a landslide, the greatest number of homeless people are homeless because they are alcoholic. AA can help most alcoholics get and stay sober.

I've been sober for 16 years and don't have time for those who don't want AA.
No matter how much someone needs AA, they will never get better until they actually WANT the program.

They are a sad bunch..................sad because most prefer to live on the street rather than live a structured life. I have to get up early in the morning, drive an hour to work each way everyday and sometimes I hate having to be there with all of the responsibility.
I trade my day for the pay I get. I get the feeling and from what I have heard that many of these people prefer not to have all that structure.
Our mayor in this city has been telling us that giving a handout is helping (enabling) them to stay on the street.
Yes it hurts when I see them, but what can I do, really.

i don't ignore homeless ppl, but if someone in a tuxedo asked me for money, i'd definitely ignore him. tuxedos are expensive, and anyone who can afford to wear one should also be able to buy his own lunch.

through fact they continuously opt to be arranged for a night out on city, nonetheless isn't it night each and every of the time for 6 months of the 365 days the place they stay? additionally they opt to be nicely dressed for travelers. as quickly as the boats depart, they positioned their sweaters and arctic parkas back on.

I don't need them to be well-dressed but polite is always nice.

I had a friend that never gave to the street bums until this one day someone was very proper and polite about it!
