Take it to a jeweler. Have the ring melted into a little nugget and have the diamond placed in somewhere. Have it made into a pendant and placed on a necklace. You can wear it as a momento of what WAS good once upon a time.
NEVER EVER GIVE BACK SOMETHING THAT BELONGS TO YOU! And don't sell it! It's almost a carat...you won't get the value that he paid for it.
Just a thought.... :-)

If you have any children give it to the child when the child is an approtate age.
No child???.... Have it made into something else.
you could aways pawn it but your going to get ripped off, you could sell it.... put an add it the paper/ or local paper.
you could take it to the beach and throw it in the ocean. but thats just a waste!
you could take out the yellow pages and pick a name and mail it to that person...
use your immanination that works best for me, what are you looking for more room in your drawer??? Or some symbolic statement??

Have it appraised. If it's worth anything, put it in a safe deposit box and forget about it. If you ever want to reuse it as a wedding band for your daughter or son, there it is; it will definitely appreciate in value if it has any today, so you can also use it as a down payment or an enrollment fee for a child in college, etc. Don't let it go to waste!

If you have had a child with your ex husband, I would keep the ring for that child, or sell it and take the money and invest it into their college education. If you had no children, offer it back to your ex. If he does not want it, get it appraised, and sell it.

about 2 years after i got divorced, i had enough of looking at the set in my jewelry box. it just brought back the horror memories. i had a 1 carrat wedding set (engagement and wedding band). i took it to the pawn shops to try and sell it to them. i had the set appraised and the pawn shops did not even come close to the appraisal. i just wasnt going to let it go for $100 when it was apprasied for $3500. i even put adds in the newspaper to try and sell it. try that. i was cleaning up one day and found the receipt for the ring. the jewelry store that the set was bought at had a buy back diamond excange, so i brought it back and got more jewelry. it was a good trade in. but in your case.....try the pawn shops, but dont just settle for anything to get rid of it and try an add in the newspaper to sell it. you would be surprised at the add.

Do the right thing and give it back. It was given to you with the hopes that the two of you would be married or stay married. It's not really a gift. If he refuses to take it, then it is yours to do whatever you want.

You will get only a small fraction of the price if you pawn or sell it. Make it into another piece of jewelry or one for your daughter if you have one.

at the very least you should offer to return it . it was accepted by you on the agreement that you would remain with him until death you did not do that. so you should offer it back. he may say keep it in which case you should pass it on to one of your children if you have one . if not then pass it on to one of his blood relatives .
failing that sell it and give the money to the poor .
