I understand Bluetooth is used for a wireless connection from your phone, but can it also pick up internet signals for your phone? I currently have the internet disabled on my phone due to "accidental-button-pressing" and causing high charges on my bill. Is there a good brand of bluetooth? I see so many different kinds.

Bluetooth is a technology that allows 2 computer devices to communicate with each other without benefit of a hard-wired connection.

It functions across platforms, which means that a bluetooth phone and earpiece or a Bluetooth enabled computer and bluetooth microphone can all communicate with each other regardless of who manufactured the individual devices.

For phones, this gives you the ability to answer, talk, hang up and even voice-dial your phone without even touching it. Your phone can be as far as 30 ft away.

Some phone models allow you to transfer ring-tones, pictures, or MP3 files from one Bluetooth phone to another, although more and more this function is being disabled due to music piracy concerns.

While I can imagine setting up a Bluetooth enabled keyboard and accessing the Internet connection on your home computer, you cannot use bluetooth to access the Internet on a device that doesn't have access to the Internet. If your phone is Internet-blocked, nothing the bluetooth earpiece can do will have any effect on it whatsoever.

It cannot pickup internet signals as it is not wifi enable unless it is a Nokia N80. If u are using GPRS, the charges is for the downloading of data and not the connection time. There are indeed many bluetooth out in the market and it is not easy to made a decision. If u want good brand, u may choose to buy the phone manufacturer recommendation which are more expensive than the others.

Bluetooth is not just for your fone. It can be installed on ur computer as well with a bluetooth card. Bluetooth is like a step-up in wireless connections. With bluetooth you can send files from pc -> fone, pc -> printer, connect fone - > headset, transfer files from fone -> fone. Hope I helped =] If you need more information look up sites such as en.wikipedia.com or even http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/bluetooth.htm

The blue tooth will not pick up Internet signals on your cell phone. It communicates with the phone but doesn't pick up the Internet from another source.
