A tv tuner is just a hardware interface to a tv signal. If you have cable in your house then install the cable box to the tv tuner as you would to your tv. Same thing with satalite, just pretent the tv tuner card is your actual tv. You van also install a VCR or DVD player to the card and watch movies.

you need an antenna and you get what it reaches,if you are connected to cable you can get into that ,the computor advantage is that you can watch about 16 channels at the same time and play with the sizes of the screens in your computor
and you do not need the tv

It will display and tune any whatever feed you hook it up to (ex: antenna or cable). Most cards include ports for various choices, including coax). Please note that if your signal is digital, you will either need a card specifically made for such (most are analog) or you will need a converter.
