In a double line pregnancy test, do both lines have to be solid to indicate a positive test?

The positive line is really faint. Is this okay? An HPT tells you exactly one thing: your urine either has detectable pregnancy hormone in it, or it doesn't. The darkness or lightness of a line doesn't mean much. Generally speaking, a very light line can mean there is a small amount of hCG in your urine, and a very dark line can mean there is a larger amount of hCG in your urine. This is why you may get a faint positive at 10 DPO but a darker positive at 18 DPO. However, this is not always true. Tests are all different, and even tests in the same box may differ in sensitivity. Comparing light/dark lines will just drive you nuts. If you see a line in the "results" window, you're preg!

Well...I wasn't even "late" yet and I had a very faint second line. It was gone the next morning when I retested. But I went to the doctor for a blood test and was pregnant. So, wait a few days, like you said, and retest. I have also had a test where the line was very faint and then got darker the next day (on the same test) only to start my period the second day after testing.

If even a faint line appears on a pregnancy test, you can consider yourself to be pregnant. It just means the pregnancy levels in your body are just beginning as you must be relatively newly pregnant.

no once that second line appears that means you are pregnant. All the diffrence is between a faint line and a strong line is that your hormone level is strong or low. So if you see 2 lines at all you are pregnant

No, even if you read the box it will tell you that one of the lines may be faint. If 2 show up, you are, without a doubt pregnant, only the HCI hormone that comes from bing pregnant will make that line show up. sorry, or congradgulations, depending on how you feel about it.

faint or bold as long as there is a line, that indicates a positive test result...you are probably just newly preggers. Congrats :)

If there is any line at all in the result window, even if it is faint...then you are probably pregnant. It is VERY rare to recieve a false positive.
