I'm 18 weeks along and haven't had an ultra sound, yet. Should I be worried?

lol No? Why would you be worried?

Everyone has a scan at that time. They check on development and get measurements. Its the funnest most exciting day of your pregnancy short of giving birth.

You can also find out what sex the baby is.

You strip down, put on a gown, lay on a bed, and they use a little thing thats just like the doppler the doctor uses to hear the heart beat, with some goo, and you watch the screen.

Its over in about 10-15 minutes.

Soooo much fun. You get pictures, and ask about brining a video tape, a lot of places record it for you.

I had one at 8 weeks along and saw the heartbeats and a little blip in a small dark sac...the next week one was more exciting, I saw a little more and the third was really good, I could see her sucking her thumb. The ones they do near the end of pregnancy are more difficult to tell what you are looking at cause the baby is so big by then, but they are all exciting ...good luck, god bless . I have a healthy 4 yr old and 4 month old...

You shouldn't be concerned some doctors do ultrasounds early and some don't..You will be soo happy when you go. The baby is a good size and you get to see soo much. The appointment is a long one since they will go over everything on the baby and make sure he is healthy! you will also get to find out the sex if you want to

It is really exciting. It depends on how far along you are as to what you see. I saw my daugter sucking her thumb! We really couldn't tell what sex she was at the time. Some doctors will video the ultrasound...that is really cool. It doesn't hurt or anything. They should let you hear the heart beat. Congratulations and enjoy this time:-)

The important thing is---don't expect too much! Lots of people do, and then are disappointed if they can't see shapes, or heart beats or whatever. They will put a gel on you that is cold, sometimes they are great and warm it up....then start rolling what reminds me of a computer mouse on end all over....and hopefully you will see all kinds of neat things...but dont be disappointed if you dont. Good luck.

No that is not unusual, but be prepared for the wonder of it all seeing your little one on the tv screen.

I had my ultrasound for my 1st 2 weeks before she made her entrance and I did not have one for the 2nd.

its great it makes it all feel real if that makes sense and thay might tell you the sex if you ask and thay let you have a photo to take away hitch is great. if you go in with a full bladder thay get a better look at the baby. did you know that you can now have a 3d scan done. good luck

you shouldnt be worried, it's really amazing to see! I had mine done at 18 weeks and was quite surprised at how much of a baby it looked like...we saw all fingers, found out it was a girl, and her head was more proportionate. You should be getting one soon, you'll be fine :)
