A Costco opened up near me 3 months ago (the first in my state) and now that the Christmas displays are gone, they've been replaced by great looking wood furniture at great prices. But I know that looks can deceive. I like how a lot of The Bombay Co. furniture looks, but at heart it is cheap pressboard crap with a slick veneer. Is Costco's furniture also pressboard with a nice veneer? Or is it real wood all the way through?

I actually went and examined the furniture in question closely and it turns out actually to NOT be pressboard or fiberboard. Most of it is a laminate on plywood. That isn't hardwood all the way through, to be sure, but it is a far cry higher quality than the pressboard furniture. I'm impressed!

You need to look at it closely to be sure. But pressboard is being used more and more. Furniture that uses no pressboard is quite expensive. You get what you pay for.
