My father isn't stupid, but I do know some people who do have stupid fathers. If he is wrecking your life to the point he is making you miserable, than kick him to the curb! You don't need bad people in your life. Maybe he will grow up and realize he is being an idiot and apologize to you before he leaves this green earth.

We live in the south and my dad has "old fashioned views" that he speaks freely, which drives me crazy and makes me wonder where I came from. It hugely limits our conversation because we are so different. And since I am only allowed to go to his and his 3rd wife's house for 2 holidays a year, and they refuse to come to my house, I will not show up to their events and won't take him in when he gets old, either--I guess that's close to disowning!!

My dad happens to be one of the most intellectual person I know. I love and respect him so much. I would NEVER disown or not speak to him.

I love my daddy and he's definately not stupid.
When a child decides not to ever speak to their parent again, it is a pain that no one deserves and not only hurts the parent, but will eventually harm the child as well.

When I was 16, probably like you, I could not believe how stupit my Father was. When I went to college and came back grown up myself, I could not believe how smart he had gotten in such a short time.

no, my father has a lot of knowlege.. he gives good advise and knows how to do a lot. no.. i don't plan on disowning him..

No, my dad is very intelligent and worked hard his entire life..... my dad is a great man.... you should be ashamed of talking about your dad like that!!!
