I suspect i would "go" in the restroom on a cruise ship, i don't think the staff like the vacationers to do their business in the pool or over the railing of the ship. What do YOU think happens in there? Is there a circus in there that no one ever mentions?

international shipping laws require that the waste is held in tanks and pumped off at shore where it can be treated.
this however does not happen at all times . mostly on ships that are for cargo the waste human and oil and such are dumped out into the ocean. this is a huge problem some sailors have crossed the oceans and not had one day go by that they did not see oil on top of the water.

Under no circumstance should you use a restroom on a cruise ship. Save it until you can find a nasty one in a seedy part of Jamaica, or wherever your stop is.
