Like you j I don't like Varitek, at all- too much running of the mouth especially against A-Rod. Can't stand Kurt Schilling either. Oh heck, I really don't like any of them. When Pedro was with the Sox, I really couldn't stand him either.

It's not so much the players but the Red Sox fans that cause all the trouble. The envy the Yankees organization and wish the Red Sox were as good. It really isn't the players. If you've been to a Boston-New York game at Yankee Stadium you would see in an instant how unruly Red Sox fans are. They yell obscenities, get drunk, start fights. It's due to decades of failure while they watch the Yankees do all the right things to win.
They are the ones who blame the Stienbrenner for spending millions on players but take a look at the Red Sox. They spend as much if not more each year. Even after they won in 2004 they still didn't know how to act. Like a kid with a new toy they beat it up until it broke. Hell, their first baseball ran off with the baseball that made the last out of the series. No class!
Look at their reaction when Johnny Damon left. Forget that he helped them win a world series. Now they treat him like dirt every time the two teams play each other. Of course Pedro Martinez might be the only exception to the rule. Certainly the most pompus @$$ I've ever seen.
Don't hate the players. Just look at the Boston fans. They are the ones to blame for the hated rivalry.

Varitek ranks up there, i also cant stand schilling. My top 5 Hated red sox are probably
1. Curt Schilling
2. Jason Varitek
3. Manny Ramirez
4. David Ortiz
5. Jon Papelbon
Oh, and chang i'd take Posada over Variteks *** anyday. Varitek is not the most need catcher or whatever you siad either. I'd have Pudge Rodriguez anchor my pitching staff over him any day. Do you see what he did with the young pitchers in florida and detroit? Look who Varitek has had to work worth, for most of his career it was veterans. If i had Pedro, Schilling, Lowe, and Wakefield i would look like a master mind too.

It's got to be Ortiz. He is without a doubt the most overrated player in Major League Baseball. His comment to Jeter was obscured and immature. He is just jealous because he knows he will never be good enough for MVP consideration. Just because he's another muscle head, steroid taking freak, he thinks he amazing. If hes so good, why cant he play any defense (hitting's not the only part of the game). He's definitely my most hated player, with the rest of the team a close second.

I am a Yankees fan, but I, just like Derek Jeter, cannot hate the Red Sox. You can't hate the Red Sox for all of their accomplishments and how they came from 0-3 to win the 2004 ALCS and World Series. You can only respect them. I respect the Red Sox with all of my heart. I think David Ortiz is a great player and he is a great power-hitter. Manny Ramirez is a pretty ballplayer also. Jason Varitek is very talented, so I can't hate him. He is a very talented catcher and a good hitter. In conclusion, you can't hate your enemy. You could either not like them or in my case, RESPECT THEM.
See, I unlike most Yankees fans have a little personality trait called INTEGRITY. I have integrity for me to admit that the Red Sox whupped our *** in the ALCS of 2004 and I have INTEGRITY to RESPECT my arch-nemises.

I used to despise Manny because of the antics he pulls out on the field. He is so cocky, but he can't field and is a complete moron.
I used to dislike Varitek, but never hated him. After the A-Rod incident I have hated him more than anyone. He got in a fight and left his facemask on. Thats bush league . If you are going to try to fight someone don't be a pansy about it. Fight them fair and scare, don't grab an advantage by leaving a helmet on. That really pissed me off and I've hated him ever since.

I hate David Ortiz. How he suddenly after he came to the Red Sox he had incredible power. But in Minnesota he had power numbers on average of like 12 homers and 50 RBIS. HE SUCKS!!!!!!! DH isn't a position!!!!!

David Ortiz. Far overrated. Can't put up a good batting average. There are much better players out there with far less attention. Since when is a DH that can't bat over .320 even worth a mention as MVP.

Heres what I am hearing:
Yankee Fans hate anyone who is:
*Good
*Commited
*Talented
*A RedSox Member
But they don't hate them once they:
*Go to the Yankees (Damon)
So heres what I am getting:
Yankee fans who hate everyone that is good on the Sox have no valid reasoning.
*David Ortiz did not mean his speech in that way, and even Derek Jeter knows it.
*David Ortiz is more valuable than anyone on the Yankees, he is clutch and he put up far better power numbers than anyone in the AL.
*Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz are not cocky at all. You just say that because that's what you were told by idiotic NY Sportswriters.
*Jason Varitek is the most effective catcher in the Majors. He is a key reason why the Redsox pitching was so successful before he was injured. (Don't deny it, Sox owned the AL East before he left.) Also, VTek would kill Arod with 1 blow to his "pretty face". Don't hate him cuz he's better than what you got. Just cuz his raw stats don't show it doesn't mean it's not true.
