My stomach gets ROCK HARD for about 2-3 minutes off and on during the day. Its not painful. It feels like Iam holding a sit up in mid crunch or something. It makes me really sore, sometimes it gets so tight I cant stand up straight... Or breathe a deep breath.

Once in a while I might have a few that are a couple minutes apart, real intense, and they last maybe 40-60 seconds. Just not painful. I have to fight bearing down.

Iam 36 weeks. Ive had braxon hicks before, but usually they are painful.

Are these things contractions too?

note: Baby's dropped and fully engaged at almost station 5 (all i need to do is dialate and I can push), i feel like I have a grape fruit shoved up my crotch (sitting on the toilet is torture!), and his movement stops during those feelings, but comes back after them. iam due for a check up on the 29th, Iam effaced a little last I knew.

Contractions? Progress? lol. Has to be something good, right?

most of them are really low. Like along my pelvis. And yep, my back does tighten up too with them. But my back is always tight and hurts like hell.. i have a bunch of crushed disks. So i dont really pay attention to back pain...lol.

Yes, I never even realized I was having contractions, I thought it was the baby moving. When I was being induced, the nurse came in and asked how I was handling the contraction, I asked "what contraction?". According to the monitor I was having a contraction and didn't even notice. I thought the baby was moving around.

Yeppers! I'm one of the weirdos who has a virtually painless labor. For me, the contractions are really a tightening feeling that is kind of like a muscle cramp without the pain. It can still take your breath away but with the occasional pain in my cervix as it's dialating there's no pain, even when pushing! Hopefully this is how your whole labor goes - just keep an eye on the timing and head in when your OB/Midwife said to. Best of luck and I hope you enjoy a (relatively) pain-free delivery with no need for meds! (It really is the way to go if you can do it!)

Sounds like Braxton Hicks, sorry! The real deal is much lower in your pelvis that can radiate to your back. But at least it is something to get you ready for the big day. Maybe all of them are thinning out your cervix which is a good thing. Good luck it will be in no time you will be holding your babies in your arms!

Sounds totally normal. Probably just braxtonhicks. They can be completely painless. Usually as you get further along, they become more uncomfortable because the baby is larger...but not always.
When they become really painful...they aren't braxton hicks anymore...but real contractions.
You can have real contractions and not be in actual labor. As long as they subside after a warm bath or some rest then you should be fine.
Good luck and Congrats!

Those are definitely braxton hicks. When I was pregnant with my third, they made me feel like I was going to go to the bathroom on myself. Horrible! They'll get more frequent the closer you get. Sounds like you're almost there. Good luck!

Does your lower back bother you during these tightening moments in your stomach? I would call your doctor...ASAP...better to be safe then sorry...and better to have the baby in the hospital instead of in the car on the way to the hospital...
