I have a desktop PC and laptop setup on a connection through a wireless router. I can see both of of the computers on the workgroup but I am not able to access the desktop through the laptop or vice versa. I have made the folders that I wanted shared through Sharing and Networking. I tried running Add a Network Place but it says I am not allowed access to that computer.

Both are running Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2. I am just trying to access Shared Documents and all the sub-folders under Shared Documents. Can anybody help?

Try going to the share, then click on tools -> folder options. Go to the view tab, scroll all the way to the bottom and then uncheck "Use simple file sharing". Right click on the shared folder and there should be a sharing tab (It may look different from the way it looked before). Make sure "Share this folder" is selected and then click on Permissions. Select the everyone group and make sure that it has Read permissions allowed. See if that helps.

XP Pro can share files over a workgroup.
