Why did YOUTUBE beat the competittion?

Does anyone know the story of chad hurley and his background? Why did youtube beat the competition such as google and yahoo video? They are worth billions and they couldnt beat you tube? doesnt make sense..anyone know full story??details..

Yahoo Video is just a search engine to other outlets, including Google and YouTube. Google video is cool--nice big picture, for example, and it lets you stream all your search results as a playlist. But Google lacked the sense of community. You can't [as far as I can tell]] message other members, or save favorites, create playlists, etc. YouTube took the MySpace approach to video and it worked.
