I'm down with the british because you've got those cool sandwiches made of french fries (chip buddies I think?) and good music and the magic that is Gordon Brown. Dang, i wish I got to see him on TV everyday.

We generally love the British.

Aside from being our most supportive ally in the area of World Politics, we like your royal family, your "Educated" sounding accents, your sense of humor, and your culture/ literature.

Myself, I am a huge fan of certain elements of British pop culture and television comedy.

Monty Python remains some of the most genius comedy ever written. It inspired shows over here ranging from "Laugh In" in the sixties to our current "Saturday NIght Live". I also watched shows from "Vicar of Dibley" on public TV to "The Young Ones" on cable.

Your "Man about the House" became OUR "Three's Company" with very little changing of the overall concept.

We copied a lot of your other television programs, most recently the "Who Wants to Be a MIllionaire" program, which still runs in syndication.

I am also a big fan of the writing of Douglas Adams, (May God rest HIs soul...) and the children's fantasies by JK Rowling.

Many people obsess over sporting events like the British Open golf tournament and the Wimbledon tennis tournament, both of which are televised here.

(I won't even mention the live drama that often starts there and rolls onto Broadway here, because I'm not as much an expert...)

I hope this answer gives you some sense of how much we are influenced by your country.

Im American and I am married to a Brit from the Midlands so obviously I like them! I dont live in the UK,I live in Germany at the Nurburgring but we run a buisness here and our guests are at least 90% English so I am around Brits every day in the summer. Everyone I hang out with is British and I always manage to have a good bit of fun discussing the diffs between the US and Brit language which of course includes the is it a car boot or trunk conversation and the topic of "friendly fire".....ermmm. Brits are always good company I find and always up for a few pints and a laugh. I think the typical American view of Brits from the outside, is a dry sense of humor, very proper and uptight with a posh, well spoken accent(i.e Prince Charles)..I remember the first time I met someone from Wolverhampton. Everything is automatically assoiciated with London of course as well,Big Ben,the Palace,Queens Guards,Beefeaters, the Queen of course and that image is what we basically picture the UK as. I remember spending a week in "Kings Cross" and being hassled by a drug dealer at 10 in the morning at the trainstation. Top things I found in the UK...a good curry, chicken &mushroom pies, proper fish and chips from the local(w/mushy peas of course!) and a pint of Strongbow.

Bush administration-aside, I have always found the American people to be polite and ready for a laugh, as are (I would like to think) the British.

Okay, so they might have enormous backsides and have no concept of the theory of queueing, but hell, we have bent (green) teeth and continually think we still rule the world even though we don't! No country is perfect!

Let's just all chill out, get a bit drunk and get a bit rumbustious. After all, we're all friends here! Laughing about our differences has got to be preferable to fighting over them?

I think that if I had to live where you do, I wouldn't enjoy the people's crappy sense of humor. I take damn near everything as a joke, and I respond to it accordingly. I don't know very much about the geography, and to be honest it's kind of boring and I lose interest pretty quickly in the laws that you have in place. I think guys from over there are kind of homely, a little on the "plain and pasty" side of the coin. Ya'll DO have some damn good chocolate, wine and beer.....

Well, I don't know what else to tell you. I still dig the US.

From the answers that have been posted on this site over the last few weeks, I would say that American women like our accents. Some of the men seem to be narrow minded and self centred morons. Your question should provoke some interesting responses.

I have always loved Brits myself..and love the variations in your accents...
The thing that had me confounded lately is why some Brits hate Americans so much especially putting us all in some sort of box of hate...calling us stupid and telling us that they do not laugh with us they laugh at us. That was really not nice at all...
All that aside I still love ya'll...
I met a guy who still lives in Yorkshire...and I also notice that some of you make fun of each other...maybe it is a humor thing that I just do not get...Happy Boxing Day...well bout half past Boxing day! LOL

I think you are much more civilized than we are. I love British comedy(Monty Python and Benny Hill are 2 of my favorites) and the accent is so sexy.
