Why would I cream you? That was
a philosophical answer. Correct in
the assessment of history and the
lessons that should be but are never
learned. I'm only puzzled by the mention
of Lincoln in the same statement as
the two butchers. There must be a
better example.

Kitchenchick,
I fully understand and agree with
your plight and your point. However,
Bush is stealing from you and I as
well. Even though he hasn't created
a bunch of new taxes for the middle
and lower class, he has cut taxes for
the wealthiest individuals along with
those for corporations.
Further, how much of this war money
do you think could have been spent
here at home for important causes
rather than for a lost cause in the
middle east. We can't win this war.
Nobody wins a holy war. That is the
history of the region.

You ask a brilliant question that plagues many people because after 6 years of his presidency you're left grasping for straws in terms of trying to locate that ONE bright spot where Bush has progressed this country since his election. The fact of the matter is that Bush has neglected America's internal problems and has instead geared almost his entire presidential agenda(as well as hundreds of billions in America's tax revenue)in the direction of disastrous foreign policies. We need a president with more 'New Deals' and less 'Marshal Plans'.

Well, it isn't really a program...
However, i must say that Bush has done one good thing while in office.
And yes, i am going to get creamed for this.
But he has reminded us of the purpose of history... which is that it's not supposed to repeat itself, but teach us.
There is a reason there were leaders like Hitler and Mussolini and Castro and Lincoln and i could go on. But this reason is that they have taught us what we can and cannot do as leaders. They have taught us what people need, what a country needs.
So i suppose we can thank him for reminding us of such important lessons. And for teaching us how to never elect such an imbecile ever again...
Or was he even elected by the people or just by default of his status? I'm still hazy on that.

One thing great he has done is not create a bunch of new taxes so that we will all go broke supporting people who refuse to work or keep their pants on.
I don't say this flippantly. I know SO MANY perfectly capable, intelligent people who continue to take from gov't programs simply because they can (I know them through being sober in AA for 16 years and being involved with other groups that help the poor directly).
A woman in AA bragged to me the other day that she owes a hospital in my area $42,000. She has no intention of ever paying and complained that they weren't nice to her. Well, heck yeah! Why should I smile while you are robbing me? I mean how many hospitals need to go out of business....
Middle-class America used to be the best place to raise your kids. Now, everyone has a RIGHT to be middle-class. No one is supposed to be poor, even if they get up every morning and use drugs and never get a job.
"Hey, sign me up for THAT PROGRAM!!!"
So, those who were once poor are living exactly like me or better, and I am paying for both of us. Neat.
Why take from me and give it to someone who refuses to quit having sex with people who won't marry them? Or why give my hard-earned money to someone who is drinking and drugging their life away? What message is that sending people who actually work hard for a living?
When did people start feeling so sorry for "indescriminant woman," druggies, and drunks to the point that not only are they not expected to do better, but the rest of us are supposed to support them from now on?
I give money to groups that I KNOW do alot of good things. I resent others voting for me to pay for other people's bad behavior through programs I know nothing about. If they believe in those programs, let them give the money for them.
I give to the poor through programs in my area, where I can actually SEE the good that they do.
Who the heck knows where all the money goes after it leaves our paycheck in the form of taxes? It sure doesn't seem to be helping. From what I can tell it is just making me poorer and making more people depend of the state.
It is becoming harder and harder to raise a family on one income because we are supporting people who don't pay taxes for whatever reason.
If I had no faith in God, this would be depressing. I am grateful that even though there are innumerable grown adolescents running around with my money in their pockets, God is taking care of me, anyway.
But, as a nation it makes us look stupid and weak. No wonder the Muslims hate us. I would, too, if I didn't know that not so long ago, we were a great nation.
The only way we will be that nation again is if we start requiring people to pay for their own mistakes.

Well do you feel left behind?
The president does not enact programs, that is one of the jobs of congress.
Your reply to me says it all.
Why even ask about the president?
Do for your self what no other can.
I don't wait for the government to tell me what to do I have free liscense to act without direction from big brother.

I can't really think of any. Maybe somethings related to illegal aliens. There were tax cuts for the rich which is good for the rich. I think this is a good question and it points to a big problem.

Not certain but i would imagine that factories producing Humvees and tanks are working alot of overtime thanks to Bush.
Is that a good or bad thing....i guess it all depends if you work in a tank factory and if so if you like alot of overtime.
