At the moment I would suggest that the truth of this will become evident when J.K. runs out of ideas for further books, or when paying theatre goers stop going to the movies to see the films.

So far the films have been immensely popular and I cannot forsee the film makers wishing to kill their cash cow. As it takes J. K. Rowling a considerable time (prolific though she is) to complete each new volume movie 6 will be some time away. Movie 7 would be already out in book form, I would suggest, by the time movie 6 (if ever) is released and the only thing that will prevent 7, 8 and so on will be the public's willingness to keep on buying tickets.

This rumour about a No.6 maximum has been around for a couple of years. The only absolutely sure answer is that no-one knows...yet

Enjoy the ones that do come out, and read the stories before you see the films if you can...they are excellent entertainment.

Cheers,

BobSpain

No, it's not true. In total, there are 7 books. JKR is writing the 7th book right now and it will be released sometime in July 2007. So far 5 movies have been made (the 5th is in production) and there are already plans regarding the 6th movie. You have no reason to believe that they won't make a movie for the 7th book as well. Just because the book hasn't been released yet it doesn't mean there won't be a movie.

Plus, this movie makes so much money it would be insane to stop trying to gain more from it.

And to all the answerers who said that the 3 main actors (Dan Radcliffe, Rupert Grint & Emma Watson) won't play in the last movies as well, let me tell you that's not true. Their roles for the 6th movie are already confirmed, so there is no reason for them to not play in the last one, too. It's like stopping when you are 1 cm close to winning a race.

As far as anyone at Warner Brothers' are concerned there is definitely going to be a 7th Harry Potter movie. If anyone has said otherwise then you should consider it only a rumour, to not make all of the Harry Potter books into movies would be stupid and foolish for commercial companies involved in the making of the movie and of the merchandise.
Basically if JK Rowling decides to make 12 books (which she won't) Warner Bros. would make sure that they make the corresponding movies mainly for the money they make off the movies.

Yeah if there isn't a number 7 then the movies will only go up to 6. Can't have a 7 if they stop at 6 now can you? lol.

Of course not!
If there are 7 years at hogwarts (which there are), J.K. Rowling writes another book (which she will), and they make movies for all the books (which they of course will) then there is going to be a 7th movie........You need to stop listening to rumors! Most of the time they aren't true!

i read an article in the paper about that, i think so. either that & i also remember the guy that plays harry potter said that in the next few books that J.K. Rowling said she's not gonna put the Quittich matches in the books b/c it was boring to descirbe(or something like that).

are you kidding? they are making to much money off these movies to stop at 6. there will definitely be a 7th, but whether or not all of the original actors will be in it is a different story. supposedly emma watson might not do the last. we'll just have to wait and see.

NNNNOOOOOOO!!!!!! There are seven books! So, there are seven parts! But I won't mind if they make more parts to tell the full story than deleting so many bits from the book to squeeze the story in to 3 1/2 hours!
