yes, but not necessarily for myself. Everything I do, I do for my kids. Right now I'm trying to finish up my Master's degree so I can be worth more $$$ and move them to a better place with more room so they can express their individuality and so I can get a more reliable vehicle so I feel safe driving them.
I think most parents want more/better for their kids then they themselves had when they were growing up.
As long as your friend isn't hurting himself or others in the process then I say more power to him. (not knowing the specifics of his situation of course.)

Depends on what it is. Can I find a better house? Yes, when I get a better education, get a better job, and make better money. Some things I'm satisfied with: My family, my friends, my hairdresser. I think you get the point.
