I have a :

- Kingston KVR : KVR400X64C3A/512 2.6V
- Infineon Azenram DDR0330 HYB25D256800BT-5 C2

Both are 512 MB and PC3200 and 184 pins.

Are they "mixable" ?

Someone told me it could mess up my motherboard but i used them for about 1 year now.

Why would they be incompatible ? They are both DDR400 and PC3200. Is this a question of CAS latency ?

In my motherboard manual, it says :
In dual-channel configuration, always install and identical (same type and size) DDR DIMM pair on sockets of the same color.
Always install DIMMs with the same CAS latency.
For optimum compatibility, it is recommended that you obtain memory modules from the same vendor.

What should I do, throw my second 512 Mb to the trash ?

Can i put 1 in one socket (blue) and the other one in the other (black) ?

Thank you very much for your anwers.

Honestly from my experiences it really doesnt matter, u can use different companies as long as they are compatiable. And if u want to make it the same company just sell the extra one(e-bay, craigslist, amazon, etc.) and buy another similar or the same model to the one u want to keep. As for the sockets it depends on the baord usually it has to be in RAM bank 1 and 2 or Bank 0 and 1. depends on whichever one the board says. But just put it into the first 2 sockets available. Hope this helps. (alot of this buy the same and keep the same is all about money for the comapnies)

Both are DDR 400 and PC 3200 so they are the same. The fact that they are a different brand has little to do with anything. The maker of the computer wants you to use their (read more expensive) brand so they tell you there may be problems. You have run for a year without problems and that is 10 lifetimes for a microsoft system.

If they are identical in specs, they usually work fine together, only ever had trouble with older SDRAM (PC100/133) double/single sided.

Its fine to mix them as long as they are same speed and pin variation..
