Twenty-four states prohibit marriages between first cousins. Six states allow first cousin marriage under certain circumstances, and North Carolina allows first cousin marriage but prohibits double-cousin marriage. Twenty states and the District of Columbia allow cousin marriage. States generally recognize marriages of first cousins married in a state where such marriages are legal.

First cousin marriage is allowed in these states under the following circumstances:
Arizona- if both are 65 or older, or one is unable to reproduce.
Illinois- if both are 50 or older, or one is unable to reproduce.
Indiana- if both are at least 65.
Maine- if couple obtains a physician's certificate of genetic counseling.
Utah- if both are 65 or older, or if both are 55 or older and one is unable to reproduce.
Wisconsin- if the woman is 55 or older, or one is unable to reproduce.
*North Carolina- First cousin marriage is legal. Double cousin marriage is prohibited

So I guess 3rd cousin marriage is okay and not incest..........

No, it is not incest and not against the law to marry a third cousin.

Yes, you can and yes, it's allowed in Islam. You can marry even your first cousin in Islam (this woman would be your second cousin). I don't know anywhere in the world that limits marriages between second cousins. It is common in Islam to marry first cousins... Inshallah your plans come to fruition and you have a happy marriage.

no, the laws of sanguinity and consanguinity work as follows. the parties to marry must be more than one degree removed from the common ancestor, so in the case of brother and sister it is illegal because they are in the first degree from the common ancestor- mom and dad. first cousins may in fact marry as they are in the second degree from the common ancestor - grandma and grandad (first degree) their children (second degree) and the grand children ( cousins) the third degree. so third cousins can marry because they are 5 and 6 degrees removed from the common ancestor. keep in mind this is the law practiced by Roman Dutch and Private Law, the institutes of Justinian and the works by Grotius and Voet, so in the USA they may only act as a guideline- with the exception of the deep south - see 'Deliverence"

I wouldn't think so, depends where you live maybe. It used to be common practise to marry first cousins (and I still know of someone recently who did this). So third cousins shouldn't be a problem.

Incest is defined by state law. Usually it is not. You should check with a family law attorney, or check findlaw.com for your state's restrictions.

No, but it can still be weird for any number of reasons. Make sure it is a good healthy relationship and not convenient.
