My daughter has a friend that loves to spend time here. I don't mind her, she's actually a good kid but sometimes I feel that her mother expects me to do all the driving back and forth. That and if there are ever any events to go to I get stuck footing the bill for this child. I really don't mind but it would be nice if she would just help out.

Is there a polite way to bring this up to the girls mother, I know it's not the girls fault

You could, for example, call her the next time her daughter is to come to your house, saying that you will not be able to drive for the girl because you feel sick/your car has broken down -see what she will do. If your daughters decide to go out, say that you are out of change, that you went shopping or had to help a relative out unexpectedly and that your mother's daughter could take care of this -she may get a message, and you will not have offended her.
Hope I have helped.
