it depends on which school your looking into and what type of crime is on your record. If its a felony then you might have a harder time. The best idea would be to check with the schools that you want to go to and see what their policy is (its usually on their admission application) and if you have any questions to talk with someone from admissions.

I can't answer that specific question for you but I do have some advice in that area. If you do have a criminal record you should take that into consideration when you choose your major. Here's why... I was an accounting major and after graduation I took the CPA exam. You can't be a CPA in Ohio if you have certain things in your criminal record.

Yes you can. I went to a state school in Oregon and they do not ask about criminal records. I do know that if you are a registered sex offender, that is reported and the university makes special arrangements in that regard. If it is something not as serious it isn't a problem.

Depends on the college and what you were convicted on. The college I went to wouldn't allow anyone convicted of a sex crime. I went to a large college, 35,000 students, and some people find ways around the rules and still get admitted. However, you biggest challenge will be getting a job. America is a conservative country that doesn't believe in second chances especially the HR people in the corporations in this country.

even if you are a felon thay should still let yu in if it is a private school they don't have to but if it is a state school they would have to show that you are in some way a security risk to the school and that is hard if you did the crime and did the time then it is over tell them to get a life yu just want an education if they persist so to the legal aide society nearest to you and start in on them Having done time should never preclude going to school to better yourself good luck and keep our chin up the bastards that belittle you just haven't been caught yet their turn will come!!!

I believe so. However, this might be an admissions consideration at some colleges. You really need to consult the individual institutions you're interested in. (In particular, medical and law schools may be a tough sell.)

University's don't do criminal background checks, once you get into the job market, some companies will check your background, some won't.

Most universities, and employers, only ask if you have ever been convicted of a FELONY. Most seem to forgive misdemeanors.
