I'm gay. I fully accepted it when I was 21. Does this mean I DECIDED when I was 21? No, not at all... just with societal pressures it took me that long to be comfortable with the person I always had been.
Looking back, I was gay from at least the time I was in preschool. If anyone thinks they CHOOSE things like sexual attraction in preschool, let me know. If it was a choice, it would be an adult choice. Like I said, even though I became comfortable with reality when I was 21, being gay was a natural occurrance for me.
It depends on how you define being gay. If it is having sex with other men, then yes - I could have avoided it. By being celebate or having sex with a woman and hating every minute of it. But to be true to myself and to go what is natural for me there was never any choice.

your question is the same as asking is being straight a choice or a natural occurance that can not be avoided? Get it? It's not a choice. I like green beans, I didn't choose to like them I just do. I can't choose to not like them any more because they suddenly became something that was out of the norm. I like men, I didn't choose to like them. I can't choose not to because someone says it's not right. Think about yourself, could you choose to be gay? Did you make a choice to be straight or did it occur naturally for you. Being gay is no different.

Considering that homosexual animals naturally occur and many scientific studies have shown that there are biological differences between gay people and straight people, it is an obvious conclusion that gay people (and homosexual animals) do not make a choice to be gay.

Life is full of choices.People are born male or female as such the genetic makeup is XX or XY there is no other being born black is not a choice but being homosexual is.Homosexuality is a mind problem not a sex problem.Tony Robbins can take negative thoughts and turn them into positive thoughts.Homosexuals are attention seekers.

I wish I had a dollar for every time this question is asked...every day! no! it is not a choice! did you "choose" to be straight? or were you born that way? considering the bigotry that is still rampant even in this day and age, do you really think anyone would "choose" to be someone that is the object of so much hate and abuse?
I never have been attracted to men. I don't dislike or hate men, either...I have lots of male friends. nothing "happened" to me to make me "turn" lesbian. It's just who I've always been.

It's natural. You can't chose who you are attracted to. You can't say, "Hmm well the whole straight thing has been good but I think I'm gonna try being gay!". I didn't just decide to be bi one day. I realized it over time and am very happy with my life and my girlfriend who I am in love with.

I am gay for the same reason I have blue eyes.
Are my blue eyes a 'lifestyle choice'? No. Are my blue eyes a 'natural occurance'? Yes.
You avoid drink driving, you never avoid love.

It just happens, whether due to genes or life experience or both or whatever, but it's certainly not a choice nor a decision.
