The tail will regenerate, but it will take time. The tail will never be qiute as green or as pretty but at least it will be there. My 9 yr old iggy escaped one summer and was gone for about 6 months. When he came back he was missing a good half of his tail. And that was about 3 years ago. But since then it has grwon about 5 inches or so. It is darker but has the same girth as the non-regenrated part.

Some lizards will not regenerate they're tails. Certain species will. But iggys will so you dont need to worry about it unless it is a fresh break and you start to suspect an infection.

But good luck with your little iggy, and I hope his tail grows back fast and strong for you,

Some lizards tails do indeed grow back, like geckos. However from what i know some lizards dont grow tails back. I could be wrong though. However there was this one time years ago when my cousins and I were in the desrt in Airzona, we came across this lizard, we chucked a rock at it, thinking it was fast and smart enough to dodge it. instead the rock hit the tail and completely severd it. The lizard then died. we still feel kinda bad about it. lol

How long ago did the iguana lose its tail? According to this website, large lizards can take up to a year to regrow their tails:

"Renewal: Most lizards regrow their tails in a month. Larger lizards take a year. New Tail: The regrown tail contains cartilage instead of bone."
