There is a fairly good public transportation service consisting on the Trolley, buses, and the Coaster, which runs through the coastal area... But still, you NEED a car in San Diego...

Overall... San Diego is an expensive city to live... but you can get lucky and find a good place at a reasonable price...

I did relocate from Virginia to North San Diego county. Brace yourself, the food here is awful. You will miss your Texas food. So eat as much as you can before you leave. Cheap rent- not Texas prices but in San Diego city. Transportation in city is OK and there are lots of colleges in the city. One thing I must say, San Diego city and county are the most stunningly beautiful places in the country.

im from GA. It's different in San Diego, southern San Diego has alot of latinos, northern has almost all whites. Southern is cheaper, but yet not a slum! Thats where I live (chula Vista). Anywhere in the bonita, otay, and eastlake area is nice and close to southwestern collage.
