my mom had both done. The tricks are that you have to stop doing what caused the carpul tunnel dissorder and you have to do physical therapy.

Having your wrists operated on doesn't stop you from going for walks though, so if you're gaining weight and suffering from hip arthritus, get up off your butt and walk around the block a few times every day.

I had both mine done last Wednesday (20th)...lousy timing right before Christmas but at least they have been done....shouldn't really be using a keyboard yet but I'm bored out of my mind so am typing with one finger!

OK then...my paperwork says that it can take up to 6 months before the return of normal feeling, although in some cases the sensation may never return back to normal as the nerve may show some damage following prolonged external pressure.

I have been given a load of exercises to do to help to strengthen my hand....you should have been given them too. If you have then just keep up to them, but if you have any concerns then you really should go back and see your doctor....

hope you can get it sorted....

They say that one way to find relief for the wrists is to hold a weighted object in your hand, palm up and curl your hand towards you wrist and repeat several times. Do this several times a day.
To lose weight your going to have to eat sensibly. Eat the foods you like, just eat smaller portions or instead of three heavy meals a day, have five small ones a day. Don't eat before 7PM or after 7AM

Carpel Tunel operations dont always work and carrying extra weight also makes it worse....i know i have been there. i have had right done twice and left once. I think i will always have right hand problem. my right one was by someone slamming a car boot and trapping my right hand some years ago.
I think I am destined with pain with it for ty life.

I have never known anyone who has had the operation & it not worked. Have you been back to the doctor / surgeon??

If you want gentle exersise the doctor should also be able to advise you but what about wearing ankle / body weights?
