Underscore.
I use it for email addresses and organization/neatness.
Underscore is separate from an underline that you would find in text editing software.

This ofcourse is called an underscore. It can't be used to underline words people, because this takes the space of one character. This is mainly used then you need to enter two (2) seperate words, but according to some computer codes, spaces are not allowed, therefore a person might want to use _ to fill in the space.

It is an underscore. Back in the day, it was the only way to underline something using a typewriter. Today, it is used in e.mail addresses and URL's and stuff where spaces are not permitted. Say as in separating two words in a web address, instead of an unrecognizable space an underscore is used.
