Yes they tell you about that in your ed classes and they even prepare you for what the teacher assessment will be like. Unfortunately by the time you get out of college they will start changing the method of the assessements again. Most teacher assessments are bogus and the rest are just garbage.

Good Luck!!!

It's a test to test your abilities to become a teacher in the areas of Reading, Math and Language. You must have completed your four or five years of college first. You Must pass all three parts of the test. You will not have to set it up . It will be done for you upon completion of college course work. You will be observed many times. We have two or three a year by the state department , principal or peer teachers

It is called the LATap program. After you enter the district, you will be assigned a mentor who will come in and observe you about once a month. They are there to help you not critize you. Then in your second year they will begin to do professional development recomendations to assist and strengthen some of your weak points. WE ALL HAVE THEM WHEN WE START! Then the state sends someone in to witness the instruction in your second semester of your second year. They provide constructive critizism and will decide whether or not you will be allowed to pass and go to level 2. or if you have to repeat the process.

I did not graduate from a college in LA but I did teach there after I got out of college in NY. I learned alot from the district office about what was expected when I arrived in New Orleans. ASK QUESTIONS at the district level!!!!!!!!!

After you get your college degree, and you have a job you must go through several years of professional development in which you have a professional mentor, you are observed that you are developing a teaching technique. Yes, they tell you all this in college.
