Go to start, all programs, accessories, system tools... character map.

You will see all of the characters that are available for particular fonts. Select the font that you are using in MSN. See what the # code is for that character and type it in; or select copy and paste.

your msn messenger doesn't have the font capability for you to use the heart on there. the heart is a different font, if that font is not one that you can use on msn messenger, then it wont show up.
