There are many good answers in the history of the two disciplines, but the boundaries become blurry when you apply history to real life differences,so
I will illustrate by relaying an old joke.
There was a social worker, a sociologist, and a social anthropologist sitting on a hill overlooking two villages. they observe a man from one village sneak over to the other and kidnap a woman and drag her home to his village. Within hours, the two villages are at war and burning, killing and maiming each other.
The social worker says, "We must do something to protect those people from themselves".
The sociologist says, " I wonder why humans must always resort to war in order to solve their differences".
The social anthropologist says, " Wow, Look at those bastards go "!
So you see, there are differences between the disciplines.

Sociology is the study of society and human social interaction.
Social anthropology was founded in Britain following World War I through a methodological revolution pioneered by Bronislaw Malinowski’s meticulous process-oriented fieldwork in the Trobriand Islands of Melanesia between 1915 and 1918 and through Alfred Radcliffe-Brown's theoretical program for systematic comparison that was based on a conception of rigorous fieldwork and the structure-functionalist conception of Durkheim’s sociology. See Cultural Anthropology.

The main difference b2n these two disciplines is of methodological nature;social anthropology is linked to qualitative methods and sociology, to quantitative. Of course, the differences are dulled, since the collaboration of academic disciplines is the demand of our times. Another difference-which is connected to the main methodological one- is the size of the community under study;sociology studies large scale societies and thus the need for quantitative methods of research and social anthropology studies small scale societies (villages, communities, etc) and thus the need for qualitative methods of research. Those two disciplines not only exchange methodologies but also subjects of study -e.g.anthropology studies groups inside larger societies or specific social phenomenons produced in large scale societies.

no longer so specific, yet i think of anthropology researches human evolution (in the time of historic past), so greater of the particular element, on an identical time as sociology researches human social habit types and triggers (greater of the human psychology while in communities).. wish i've got been given it appropriate
