Depends how long you've been in the relationship for. You could just not return phone-calls if, let's say you've been dating less than a month, not very kind but works.
Or, you could tell them like it is next time they call of course, explain that you mean no harm but need to feel free, perhaps answer some questions if need-be, remain as positive as possible at all times. . . Then wish them well and move-on. . .
Course this is much easier said than done, yet, much more satisfying in the end too, should you choose to be fourth-right.
You should be able to keep your karma in-tact with this method, at least. . . Good-luck

Walk out the back, Jack. Make a new plan, Stan. No, need to be coy, Roy. Just hop on the bus, Gus. Just set yourself free.

Well this is far out there, but you could always try honesty!! I know, I know could it really work? Yes I think so. Breaking up sucks regardless of how it is done. But at least you walk away with dignity and self respect.

Just tell the person honestly how you feel and leave or ask them to leave. If necessary get a restraining order if they continue to harass you or refuse to leave you alone.

Just tell them you nolonger desire to be in the relationship. Don't make excuses -- grow up -- be a man or woman and just be honest about your feelings. I think you'll be respected for it.
