Is it still icky, or did they make it tastier because of that?

It is very salty because it gets very dirty and the icky taste is there to stop you wanting to eat it .

Oh my god, play-doh is the best ever. It's salty and squishy and it's NON-TOXIC so I didn't die! In preschool we always had it out- and now that I think about it now, others touched it. But you know, when your a good- who cares! So I ate it and one time I ate the whole canister of it. Of course, other kids did it to. It' s never been icky! And don't say that too loud- the play-doh will hear you and get mad...

No but I worked for a toy company some years back and we made lots of play doh type toy (would rather not say exactly the toy companies name but one can guess lol).
We had to have asmeck (sp) and extensive chemical training. We wore the white suites with respirators attached and had to be VERY careful of the amount of chemicals that were added to it.
If one wants to eat it, it is up to them, I banned it from my children after I learned how to make it at work!!

no but oh my do I LOVE the smell... last night at my wifes sisters house there was a delux playdoh that was unwrapped but still sealed and I had the unmitigated GALL to sit near the tree and 'fondle' the different toys and games until I was able undetected to take a quarter from my pocket and rub back and forth against a spot on the tight plastic shrinkwrap until i made a whole and then I put it up to my nose and sucked in the escaping fumes with all my heart and soul.

no lie... and i am 52 years old... shame on ME

When I was a kid I was playing with real clay on the dining table to make pottery. My mom just arrived from vacation and my older brother was walking around looking for her. I had the clay mud on a plate thinking while I contemplated what to make. Suddenly my brother grabs a clay ball, asks if mom brought it home, and put it in his mouth.

Tasted yes (I think I was making a tooth impression lol), but actually ate any, no. And I have no clue if they ever changed it since that was like 20 or more years ago.
