I have a small network right now using a Network Everywhere 4 Port Cable/DSL Router. Atm it is connected to 3 desktops and 1 notebook. I got a new notebook for xmas and want to put it on the network but wireless. I was thinking I could just pop a wireless hub/router onto the Cable/DSL router we have set up but I am just not sure, wireless was something I have never done.

To sum it all up I am trying to get 5 computers on a network. 3 Desktops wired and 2 notebooks wireless. And I have a DSL router hooked into my existing connection(all ports are full, only has 4 ports, I need 5 or 2 wireless pref.)

Thanks again to all who read this I know it is a mess of words.

a wireless access point added to what you already have should work. That would be 4 wired connections 3 to the other pcs and one wired to the access point for the laptops.

You can add a wireless access point to your DSL router, which should be pretty easy to set up. Don't leave the settings at default because then your neighbors or anyone driving down the street will have access to your network. So when you are setting it up, it will ask you to create a sharekey and then enter it into the internet settings of your laptops. I've only done this once before, so I hope this was any help.

Ok, there are many ways to do this. The easiest way would be to purchase a wireless access point, not a wireless router, and install it into one of your ethernet ports on your current modem/router. most access points will also come with a 4 port wired hub in it also. Make sure the access points dhcp server, if it has one, is turned off which will allow your modem/router to control the dhcp to all your computers.

You could put a wireless hub in there on one of the hard wires. But you would be better off in the long run to get a wireless router instead. I have a 4port and wireless and have 3 hard wired and 5 wireless on it and it works great..Thanks
