How do I take the log in Matlab for bases different from 2, e or 10?

Well one can use the change of base formula:

log_b c = (log_a c) / (log_a b)

In other words if you want log_5 48 you will have to do (log 48)/(log 5).

Let log represent log base 10, log 15 = log (3*10/2) = log 3 + log 10 - log 2 = 1.176
