"Pepsi or Sprite?" would get like a billion answers...and when somone asks a good question, it gets like 10 answers, if that...
Why is this? Do people like simple?

Because we don't have to think more to answer a question like 'Pepsi or Sprite?' its just a matter of opinion. Now if you ask us to actually think, your question will get less answers because it wastes brainpower lol.

A) because someone is guaranteed to have an opinion about something in a black & white, "either or" situation.
B) often if u have a question that surprises people, like who is expecting a question like "Quick!!! look underneith it!!??" they do a double take and answer it.
C) people LOVE to talk about themselves, the more room u leave for the anserers imagenation the better.
D) Peopel are LAZY they dont want to rack their brain for an answer
E) People answer questions that strike a cord, if it touches on soemthign personal to themselves, or evokes an emotion, feeling or thought they have had before, its more likely that they will anser it.
F) people get riled! if u ask a question a lot of people DISAGREE with, they will feel very strongly that they have to corect u, thats why dumb racist questions get like 40 answers.

Because people don't like to think. We are part of the fast food generation, and don't want to take time to type out a good answer to a top quality question. Just know the answers you receive are from those who like to take their time reading and answering questions seriously, and in that case you will get quality...not quantity.

I'm guessing it's because EVERYONE knows the answer to "pepsi or coke" but fewer people know the answer to the more complex questions.
There could also be a little of "2 quick points" mentality going on.

Its the same with answering, I can pour my heart out or answer
with a witty or funny story and and best answer will go to a one
or two work answer. I guess it depends on the mood of the people on here at that moment.

People like to answer easier questions because they don't have to think too hard. Alot of people are here for entertainment puposes only.
