Depends on the car. For a late model Mustang with a 140 CID it's around $20.00-$60.00 and you can do it your self. Takes about 30 minutes.

That depends upon your idea of expensive in the first place. Generally, yes these components are expensive to replace. This is because the component is pricey, not the labour as most are fairly easy to access to replace. Digital EGR valves with the sensor and drive inside it are by far the most expensive of the units to replace. Simple vacuum type EGR valves are still pricey, but would be about one fourth or so of the price.

it's easy.

just mark the hoses, replace the egr, put back the hoses

how are your o2 sensors? if they're not working you'll just foul up your new EGR valve.

It shouldn't be for the do-it-yourselfer, it's time time consuming depending on the type of vehicle you own. If you take it to a garage or dealer, it can be expensive. Their going to charge for the labor rate.

No it's not expensive, and it's usually very easy to get to on the intake manifold.

its not if you do it your self but if you take it to the garage thats another story
