You could have a virus. Or, check and make sure your fan inside your computer is working. I had a compaq and it was a 2002 and the fan inside it went out and after about an hour of use, it got hot and shut down.

you could have a trojan virus where someone has unseen control of your computer and gets into your programs and can get to your info. If I were you, I'd just get a new computer. At 6 years old, that things ig obsolete anyway. Buy a thumb drive(or two) and copy any files you want to save to it for transfer to your new comp. Once you get the new computer, spend a couple of extra dollars for virus protection and firewall software(Dell compu usually come with a decent enough package) and then be careful as to what e-mails and websites you open or go to.
