first off wear a brown or light brown liner not black or some other color. That will look most natural. when applying to the bottom apply along the lash line but not inside on the lid rim. that will make it run. Also only lin from the outside edge to about the mid-point of the lash line, not all the way to the inside corner. This will open your eyes up whereas going all the way to the inside corner will make it look smaller. When lining the top lid, make the line thin again and close to the lash line. If you want to look more dramatic make the line thicker and smudge it a little. Too avoid smuging buy a better liner. I know at 14 you probably don't have a lot of $$ laying around but maybe you can save up and buy a good one like at MAC or bobbi brown.

i have suggestion... why not wear black or brown eyeliner on top lashes (as close to lash line as possible).. here's what i do:

light, lavendar shadow (or nude, or none depending on what ur comfortable with)... on eyelid.

tilt head back, look downwards w/ ur eyes into the mirror. apply eyeliner to lashes as close as possible to lash line, dot in between lashes. when u get 3/4 of the way, go slightly straight and then upwards... this creates a more "open" eye effect.

then take a White or Gold eyeliner pencil/shadow and apply to Lower lash line. this also opens the eye.

if u feel like, get some translucent powder for shine, and a bit of lip gloss/chapstick. :)

use a light brown or mink waterproof smudgeproof eyelined by MAC ... use only on your upper eyelid.. smudge lightly with a qtip or finger.. draw only a thin line.. before you apply makeup , moisturise your skin and dust lightly with loose powder and shake off excess powder..
and use CLEAR mascara and an eyelas curler to perkup up your natural eye makeup

dont use eyeliner on the lower lid until you have mastered the top lid

use a waterproof eyeliner. this should stop it from sliding down and will help it stay on for longer.
