I have 3 toms - a 12", 13", and 16", and they're currently tuned to high F, B-flat, and low F....but are there certain notes they should be tuned to for optimum sound?

i have been playing drums for over 3 years and rarely do i have them tuned to a specific note. just tune them to the sound you like but make sure all the rods are at about the same tension. when you tune the batter head, make sure you also tune the resonant head. if you are looking for more of a thump, tune the resonant head at a lower pitch. if you are looking for a lot of overtone and sustain, tune it to the same pitch as the batter. if you are looking for plenty of projection, tune it a bit higher than the batter. hope this helped.

ok properly first, call them Toms, sounds greater proffesion.. 2nd locate the sound you're searching for on your thoughts.. make beneficial your drum heads are in descent difficulty... now connect your tuning rod to the drum rod and locate the sound u aquire at that one via tapping the tip precise via the rod.. then flow around the entire drum doing that making beneficial they're all equivalent
