This is a difficult one to answer, as you know, TEFL jobs are given to people whom have English as a mother tongue. However, if your not Australian, then the difference between American and English - English will probably prevent you from getting any work in the UK - because most students here will want to learn UK English.

You will have no problem in Europe, there are lots places where you can work without any problems, but actually in the UK, you will find a lot of competition from fully qualified teachers, who do a TEFL qualification in addition to their main subject. Most TEFL classes occur during the summer - or are taught in informal college classes, during the evening - at a variety of 'outreach centres' away from the main college.

The English job centre has an online search engine, link below - good luck. Oh you will also need a work visa; they are getting very strict about it, all new employees here have to prove their identity with a passport/birth certificate and National Insurance number.

You don't have to teach in state schools with a PGCE!

As far as EFL is concerned - Tutoring maybe? I did one of my teaching practices in a School with a unit for sudents who have english as a second language so maybe your experience would help you there.

But as far as I am aware you have to be registered with the GTC (General Teaching Council) to teach and to register with the GTC you have to have an appropriate Qualification like a PGCE or a B.Ed.

You should contact the GTC to find out more info...
