You can't convert it to RAM per se, but you can use it for Virtual Memory.

Configure the Paging File in Windows.

Start-> Control Panel -> System -> Advanced Tab -> Performance Settings -> Advanced Tab -> Virtual Memory Change

Click Custom Size, Set the Initial (minimum) and Maximum to how much hard drive space you want to use for Virtual Memory.

Most operating systems, like Windows XP, do this automatically by using a PageFile. It's called the Virtual Memory setting and can be changed by doing the following:

1. Right-click on "my computer", click "properties"
2. Click the "Advanced" tab, click the first "Settings" button
3. Click the "Advanced" tab, and click the "Change" button

You can change those settings here. Note that this is an advanced feature and you should be pretty sure of what you are doing before you change too much.

Ideally, hard disks are not used because access time to them is slow, and access time to RAM is fast. So, you should put your pagefile(s) on fast hard drives. The best size is usually twice the size of your ram minus 1.

Essentially what you're doing with these settings is setting aside that much space so that the OS can swap in and out the currently-running programs from RAM to the HD and back so that they can run faster. You'll notice your computer slowing down when this happens, but it's better than what used to happen in older OS's - they wouldn't even let you open more and more programs and that was not so fun.

Have fun!

In a very real sense, you do not. RAM and hard drive space are two very different things. On the other hand, contents of RAM that are not being used at the time are swapped out to the hard drive to make space in RAM for more info. This is done automatically by your operating system, by way of the swap file. However, the more that you rely on your swap file for RAM space, the slower your system will be.

Hard drive is the storage device while RAM is a chip that determines the performance of the computer. I can give you a link that deals with hard drive problems. Some RAM/hard drive problems can be easily fixed yourself by using easily available tools. I found the info at http://fixit.in useful. Try this site, if you can get what is required.

RAM Drive/Virtual Drive. Converts part of your RAM to a RAM drive. You cannot do it the other way around.

You can't. Ram is a chip and your harddrive is a disk and are two different hardware pieces.
