I went and got an ultrasound at 18 weeks the baby measured 18 weeks. I was told at 18 you are really 16 so is that the same for the ultrasound measurements? If so did I concieve 2 weeks after my period? Sorry this stuff just confusses me. I do plan on asking my midwife just wanted to know your thoughts. Thanks

women generally conceive around 2 weeks after their period. If the ultrasound measured you at 18 weeks, then you pregnancy is in the 18th week but the "conception age" of the fetus is 16 weeks...

Docs count the first day of your last period as the first day that you are pregnant even though you technically aren't yet.

Congrats and good luck!

Usually, pregnancy weeks are counted from the first day of your last period, which means that when they say you are 7 weeks, you are actually 5 weeks, as far as the fetus goes (since conception). I thought it was compicated too. But if your sonogram says that you are 18 weeks, then you probably are. It is normal to be off a couple of weeks, and that's why DUE DATES are never precise.

Good luck.

well, it's because you're considered pregnant from the first day of your last period, when you're not ACTUALLY pregnant until two weeks or so later when you concieve. It's just how they calculate it.
