One of my baby red-eared slider turtles has a tiny wisp of what looks like mold growing out from beneath her shell, right above her neck. Is this normal?? The other one doesn't have it!

It could be fungus or shedding of the skin. Buy some aquarium salt and follow the instructions(pretty cheap box for 1.50$). If its a silky entrail hanging from the turtle and theres alot of it, it's probly fungus.

Maybe the water conditions are bad. You do know that turtles poop extremly more than fish. So double the filtration is required.

it sounds like it is shedding but it could be fungus when using aquarium salt in a turtle tank only use half the directed amount for fish as turtles can not handle to much salt it makes them sick fast.

A PetSmart employee told us to use a babys toothbrush to gently clean them about once a month.
